AWGLA’s VI MEETING
In the city of Buenos Aires, Argentina’s Federal District, was held the sixth meeting of the Anaemia Working Group Latin America, it counted with the participation of the 16 countries forming the Latin American Group. The meeting was characterized by the high academic production from the Group, result of the effort developed in 2005, yet counting with 2 issues of the AWGLA’s journal, the edition of Pediatrics Latin American Guidelines, Management of Anaemia in Pregnancy and Management of Pre-dialysis, the new edition of the book “ Anaemia: Physiopathologic, Clinical and Therapeutic Considerations”, developed by the acknowledge Peruvian nephrologist, president of AWG-Peru, Dr. Patrick Wagner Grau and a selected group of collaborators, who have showed a very important contribution to the knowledge of many professionals in the region in its first edition and now it will allow to enlarge its coverage in other latitudes of the continent. As well Dr. Wagner launched his new book “Progression of Chronic Nephropathy in the Pre-dialysis Stage” where much updated aspects in the diagnosis and medical management of this nosologic entity are combined. As well, the group authenticated the book “Pharmacology of Iron” elaborated by doctors Canaval, Pérez, Rincón and Vargas, the same endorsed by the Latin American Association of Pharmacology, which will become a value tool of consultation.
During those hard two meeting days the diverse actions developed by the 16 AWGLA in Latin America were outlined, experiences were exchanged and the guidelines for working in 2006 were defined, where the central axis will be the academic material diffusion to many professionals of capital cities as well as far areas, in order to maintain the AWGLA, the best diffusion level and allow the development of continued medical education plans.
With big expectative and consent was received the information given by Dr. Juan Diego Romero, internal medicine physician from Colombia, who is the editor coordinator of the recent AWGLA’s journal, which for the second semester of 2005 reached 2 excellent numbers that were widely distributed and which were characterized by high quality in their information and the level of those works there presented, deserving the best acknowledgement in all and each one of the countries where were delivered.
Then, a strong light is placed which addresses the commitment to work in all Latin American AWG and to add efforts to maintain the leadership and proactive image in education and delimitation of integral and interdisciplinary managements.
Now the goal is to maintain the best level in all work groups through this directive period embraced by the current AWGLA. |
